Michigan Statewide LGBTQ+ Capitol Day - 2026
We are at a critical moment for LGBTQ+ rights in Michigan and across the country. Attacks on our community are escalating, including in the Michigan House of Representatives, where elected officials are voting to take away our rights and trying to use our existence as a tool of dangerous political propaganda. We cannot afford to be silent, the time to act is NOW.
Join Equality Michigan Action Network, Equality Michigan, and the Michigan LGBTQ+ Commission on Wednesday, May 13 for our 4th annual Statewide LGBTQ+ Capitol Day in Lansing. This is your opportunity to speak face to face with lawmakers about the issues that matter most to our community, from health care access to safety and equality for all.
This is our most important Capitol Day yet. Our elected officials need to hear from you. They need to know that protecting trans people from dangerous political attacks is imperative, and we will not back down.
Every voice must be heard, and LGBTQ+ people from every district across Michigan must be represented.
About Capitol Day
For those who have not attended previous capitol days, you can expect to be meeting with your elected officials. We have scheduled meetings with your elected officials for you! You do not need to do that! You will not be alone for these meetings. You will be with fellow advocates from your area of the state.
There will also be a brief morning program ahead of meetings with legislators that includes messaging info, guest speaker(s), and an overview of the day.
An expanded version of the morning orientation will be offered virtually (at least one week in advance) of Capitol Day so that you can feel optimally prepared for the day.
